End having a required bond for speeding tickets in Illinois!!

Required Bail during a traffic stop. Supreme Court Rule 501-600 requires that a driver accused of speeding has to post bail during the traffic stop if you are an Illinois resident. You can either pay 10% of the citation amount, have a bail card or hand over your physical driver's license. Taking a citizen's driver's license away creates an unsafe situation for that citizen. With no photo identification they cannot fly in an airplane, cannot withdraw money from the bank, in case of emergency or death have no way for police to identify their body right away , cannot return items with a credit card and possibly not use their credit and debit cards at all. This is a citizens safety issue.

You should have a time frame in which to pay your ticket. Taking 10% is basically paying your ticket up front. During  this bad economy, people may need to save up or come up with the money over a period of time and that is not an option at this point. I think that this law is not in the citizens best interest. A better option would be giving the accused a specified amount of time to pay the ticket or fight it in court and then have their license suspended if they don't satisfy the court.
This law needs to be changed immediately for the best interest of safety and fairness.
